Attendance Practice Change

Parents/Guardians,

This all letter is to inform you of a change in how attendance will be recorded by our school(s). For the past several years if your child was absent, our clerk(s) automatically applied a parent note to excuse that specific day without having received the note for the first (5) five absences per Morgan County Board Policy. If a doctor note was brought in, our clerk(s) would then make the change. Starting September 4th, this process will be changing to ensure the school and parent/guardian/custodian know where the student is at all times. Our clerk(s) will no longer apply a parent note until it is presented by the student or parents/guardians via hardcopy, email, or fax as if it was a doctor note. This will ensure that the school and parents/guardians know exactly when and why a child is absent from school. A parent note or doctor note will need to be presented to the school within 5 days of the absence to ensure the day is excused per Morgan County Board Policy. This measure is simply to ensure our students are where they are supposed to be at all times and to increase the safety for all students.

Thanks,

Morgan Co Administration
