EDUCATION AND PREVENTION

TOO GOOD FOR DRUGS

A comprehensive prevention education program presented in 10 sessions to the  9th grade classes. Designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to remain safe and drug free.

RED RIBBON WEEK is a celebration of the benefits of living a drug-free life and encouraging students to remain drug-free.  The original Red Ribbon campaign was created in honor of U.S. Special Agent Kiki Camerena, who gave his life in the fight to keep Americans safe from drugs.  Red Ribbon Week is held the last full week of October.

PROJECT PROM is held on prom night each year to provide a safe alcohol and drug free event where students are free from the pressure to use alcohol or drugs.  For the past four years the students travel to Mt Sterling by school bus to enjoy movies and bowling with their friends.  Parents are needed as chaperones each year.  Contact the YSC for more information.

GHOST OUT is an awareness program aimed at teenagers that illustrates in a dramatic way the devastation that drinking and driving can cause.  The goal of the program is to impact students to make the decision to never drink and drive and to never get into a vehicle with an impaired driver.

SAFE DRIVING campaigns are held throughout the school year to encourage teens to drive and ride responsibly.
